Carol Yvonne Stanley Buxton was born Dec. 10, 1952, and passed away in the early morning hours of Sunda, Aug. 2, 2026, after complications from a stroke in Lake Charles.
Carol was a DeQuincy High School graduate of 1972. She then worked for many years as an account manager at Coastal Daigle Petroleum in DeQuincy until retirement in 2008.
She leaves behind her husband of 54 years, Prentice; sons, PJ Buxton (Shanna); Presley Buxton (Wendy); daughter, Crystal Weaver (Mike) all of DeQuincy; brothers, Dean Stanley and Kirby Stanley of DeQuincy, and Mark Stanley (Linda) of Rogersville, Missouri; nine grandkids: Hayden Buxton, Hannah Buxton, Grayson Buxton, Gavin Buxton, Carter Buxton, Gabe Johnston, Grant Weaver, Tyler Weaver, and Hollie Weaver; and numerous great-grandkids.
Those that have gone before her are her father, Winford Stanley; mother, Betty Brown Ashworth; and brother, Winford “PeeWee” Stanley Jr.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 5, with the funeral service being held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 6, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev. Jimmy Clark and Bro. Vance Perkins will be officiating. Interment to follow at Hyatt Cemetery in Fields.
Arrangements will be handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
