Veterans Program held on Veteran Day at DeQuincy Veterans Memorial Park

On the 11th hour of the 11th day and 11th month, DeQuincy citizens met at the Veteran’s Memorial Park to honor American Veterans.

The weather provided a perfect backdrop and drew a large attendance. The ceremony was organized by Vance Perkins.

An opening prayer was given as well as the pledge of allegiance. A moment of silence was given for 11 minutes to honor all veterans. Mayor Riley Smith then gave a few remarks thanking them all for their service.

Perkins recognized all veterans present by having them come forward and tell their service and time of service.

Lillian Thorn sang a beautiful rendention of the National Anthem and South Beauregard JROTC gave a solemn and professional presentation of colors. DeQuincy Study Club and General Federation of Women’s club provided and served refreshments. There were 25 veterans in attendance.

Our thanks to them for their service. Thank you to the citizens who attended and showed support for our veterans.

God bless our veterans. God bless the USA, God bless Louisiana and God bless DeQuincy.
