Velma Lee Baier, 88, of DeQuincy, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024. She was born to her late parents, Allie and Lillie Dougharty on Feb. 21, 1936 in Mittie. Velma enjoyed gardening, fishing, and making and selling jelly.
She is survived by her sons, Darwin Baier of Onalaska, Texas, Doyle Baier (Sandy) of Pitkin; two brothers, Troy Dougharty (Darlene) of DeQuincy, and Danny Dougharty (Shelia) of DeQuincy; grandchildren, Roxi, Robert, Hoku, Darla Jo, Travis, Tiffany, Britney, and Dustyn; great-grandchildren, Russell, Brytnie, Renae, A.J., Alyssa, Allie, McKenzie, Scarlet, Jakxton, Jaece, and Kyler; along with great-great granchildren, Lief, Orra, and Luna.
Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Edward C. Baier; one son, Darrell Baier; two brothers, Allie Ray Dougharty and Durwood Dougharty; along with one sister, Birdie Faye Alston.
A Graveside Service will be held at Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy, on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m., with Bro. Mike Streams officiating.
Services entrusted to Jordan and Amanda Mothershed of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home, 205 E. Harrison St., DeQuincy.
