Freda Quinn Cornner went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024. She was born Feb. 25, 1932, she lived a remarkable 92 years and was a blessing to all who knew her.
Standing just inside those Pearl Gates waiting to greet her will also be her beloved husband, Claude “Frenchie” Cornner; her wonderful daughter, Shelley Yellott Vidrine; her beautiful granddaughter, Britany Wendt; her mother, Lottie Burleson; father, Ralph Quinn; and all her siblings, Comolette, Richard, Coot, Barney and Karo, along with all her older half siblings. Freda was the last. It seems fitting that she was the last as she had a strong, some might say stubborn, determination to stay with her remaining children and grandchildren as long as she could. Sometimes though, when the scales tip so far that you feel like life in Heaven has more to offer, you surrender and go home. Freda surrendered and she is home now.
Freda had a very full life. She was a Master Sergeant at LCIS, a parts room manager at Yellott Ford, she worked many years with Ms. Squib for Jim Miller Livestock, just to name a few. Most of all she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Mike “Fritz” Yellott, Dennis Cornner and wife Tammy, Tony Cornner and wife Sandra; her honorary son, Lindsey Granger; her daughters, Jayne Yellott, Jennifer Yellott Smith and husband Keith, and Dianna Cornner Thompson and husband Bryan. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Quinn Vidrine and wife Kelly, Caleb Doyle and wife Sissy, Ryan Doyle and wife LeeAnn, Jared Vidrine, Katie Wendt, Cody Wendt and wife Amanda, Jayd Brown and husband Brandon, Jessica Brown and husband Cody, Kristian Doyle and fiancĂ© Matt; 26 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; along with a host of loved nieces, nephews, and friends. There are many adopted family members that she showered with her remarkable nurturing, y’all know who you are.
The family received friends from 5 – 8 p.m., Monday, Nov. 11, and continuing from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Interment to follow at Oretta Cemetery in Singer.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
