DeQuincy Chamber of Commerce held their regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, Oct. 10, at Heritage Place Hotel & Suites’ meeting room. DeQuincy Memorial Hospital was the meal host.
The Chamber hosted a productive monthly meeting, focusing on coordinating holiday activities. Featured speaker Sarah Mueller, MA, BCNA, LBA from BlueLight Behavioral Services gave a presentation on her business that focuses on vital services provided to local children with special needs. She explained how her business, an Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) clinic is committed to providing services to children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Behavior.
Their goal is to help families set their children up for success by providing assessments, treatment and family training based upon their individualized needs. Mueller’s business is located at 206 E 4th St. (former Chase Bldg.).
On Friday, Oct. 10 at the DeQuincy High School Football game Chamber members assisted cheerleaders with selling football programs and supported band parents in the concession stand.
Plans for upcoming Holiday events were discussed as well as The Scarecrow Contest and participation in the upcoming DHS Homecoming Parade on Friday, Nov. 1.
Voting will continue through Sunday, Oct. 27, for The Scarecrow Contest. Official entries are posted on the new Chamber website and voting is also being conducted at www.dequincychamber.com.
The theme for this year’s Christmas parade and festivities is “Dickens in DeQuincy”.
DeQuincy Chamber’s Women Owned Businesses are being honored on the Chamber’s Facebook page in salute of October’s National Women Owned Business Month. The aim is to urge the public to support our local businesses; your local tax dollars stay here in our city when you do.
The next meeting is slated for Thursday, Nov. 14, at 12 noon. Steadham Flooring LLC will be the meal sponsor.
