William “Billy” Pharris was born Mar. 15, 1938, and passed away Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at the age of 85. William loved reading and playing solitaire. He also enjoyed watching sports, westerns, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. Most of all, he loved his family more than anything.
He is survived by his children, Rhonda Blair and husband Dallas, Cheryl Shaw, and Renee Mock; grandchildren, Jamie Blair, Scotty Blair, Brittani Spillers, Brandon Shaw, Billy Ashworth and wife Ericka, Jordan Pharris and wife Monica, Shawn Mock, and Timothy Mock and wife Shelby; 22 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Pharris; daughter, Katherine “Kathy” Pharris; grandsons, Christopher Blair and Josh Shaw; great-grandson, Cordell Wyatt; parents, Sim “Son” Pharris and Leanna Perkins Pharris; and siblings, Alvie “Buck” Pharris, Nettie Hayden, Mildred Dickerson, Robert Pharris, Bessie Pharris, and Patsy Maddox.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 18, with the funeral service to be held 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 19, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev. Eric Aultman will be officiating. Interment to follow at Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
