Elton Brindley

Elton Wayne Brindley was born Mar. 16, 1933, and passed away Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, at the age of 90.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Brindley; daughter, Patti Cradic and husband Billy of Starks; granddaughters, Jacelyn Grimsley and Kelly Grimsley of Franklin, Tenn., and Ryann Amber Howell and husband Koby Dale of San Angelo, Texas; great-granddaughters, Sophia Grimsley of Franklin, Tenn., Ashlynn Box, Ava Bedard, and Reegan Howell all of San Angelo, Texas; great-grandsons, Kolton Grimsley and Bodie Grimsley of Franklin, Tenn., Lawson Howell and Axton Howell of San Angelo, Texas; sister, Patsy Hyatt of Starks; brother, Edward Brindley and wife Judy of McAllen, Texas; father of his grandchildren, David Peck of Orange, Texas; constant companion, “Ole Fiddle”; along with special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his baby daughter, Suzanne Brindley; parents, Nettie and Thomas Brindley; sister, Elaine Buckley; brother, Nathan Hyatt, Harold Brindley, and Eric Brindley; nieces, Karen Hyatt and Melissa Brindley; and nephews, Tommy James Hyatt, Terry Brindley, Christopher Perkins, and Derrick McCay, all of Starks.

The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. A private burial will follow at the VFW Cemetery in Starks. Rev. Alfred Gibson will be officiating. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
