Ruth Agnes Chester, 84, of Vinton, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2024 in Orange, Texas.
She was born in Church Point. The family moved to Orange, Texas when she was about five years old. When she started school, she and her sister only spoke French. She was a Catholic Daughter and was a member of the Altar Society and Food of Comfort.
She is survived by her children, Rene Broussard (Lloyd) of Vinton, Diana Dietz (Raymond) of DeQuincy, Gary Chester (Darilyn) of Sulphur, and Olin Keith Chester (Matilda) of Vinton; brothers, John LeJeune of Orange, Texas, and Clifton LeJeune, Jr. of Orange, Texas; 13 grandchildren, along with 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Olin D. Chester; parents, Clifton and Lelia LeJeune; one sister; and one grandson, Jacob Dietz.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton, on Thursday, Jan. 11. Father Carlos Garcia officiated. Burial followed at Mimosa Pines South Cemetery in Carlyss.
