Rebecca “Becky” Hosch Sylvester was born Apr. 2, 1942 and passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023 at the age of 81.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Rev. Gary Sylvester of Lumberton; one daughter, Gail Oliveaux and her husband, Dannie, of Lumberton; one son, Clint Sylvester and his wife, Kim, of The Woodlands; three grandchildren, Ryan Sylvester of Dallas, Blair Sylvester of Richardson and Blynn Sylvester of Richardson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. L. J. Hosch and Katilee Vernon Hosch; two brothers, Rev. James Hosch and T. W. Hosch; four sisters, Naomi Caldwell, Louise Guillory, Martha Myre and Mary Russell.
The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. The funeral service followed at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 27, at Buna United Pentecostal Church in Buna, Texas. A private graveside service was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 28, at Antioch Cemetery in Buna.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
