John Cook

John Randal Cook was born July 27, 1958 and passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023 at the age of 65. He was born in Lufkin, Texas and relocated to the Houston area in 1979. John worked at Exxon Mobil for 39 years retiring in 2019. He greatly enjoyed retirement staying busy and spending time with his family and the company of many close friends. Some of his retirement pleasures were taking up golf, listening to Southern gospel music and spending time with the men’s Friday Breakfast Club. John really loved his church and the Bethel church family. He served in many areas of the church, most recently as Treasurer.

He always enjoyed participating in Bethel’s annual Bible reading program. This extraordinary man will be tremendously missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Beth Cook; cherished daughter, Mindi Cook; siblings, Helen Bentley and husband, Gerald, James Cook and wife, Lisa, Kenny Cook and Stuart Cook; his parents-in-law, Prentis and Mary Ann Smith; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rev Dave and Pam Stovall, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ruby Cook; sister, Freda Lee; and brother, Michael Cook.

Pallbearers for the service are Kenny Cook, Stuart Cook, Trent Cook, Allen Adams, Mike Mabry and Roy Minchew. Honorary pallbearers are James Wischer, Jerry Stewart, Bob Downing, Steve Stewart and Chuck Lovelace.
