Ruth “Jed” Rushing, 90, was born Oct. 23, 1932, and passed away Friday, Sept. 1, 2023. She enjoyed collecting arrowheads, sewing, and planting flowers. She also enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels and watching Bob Ross. She loved her family more than anything and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children, Margaret Eddleman, Ima Stains and husband, Curtis, Sadie Sigler and husband, Allen, Sandra Cardozier and husband, Dale, and Thomas Rushing; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 36 great-great grandchildren; sister, Bobbie Barrow and husband, Franklin; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Huey Thomas Rushing; son, Huey Lynne Rushing; granddaughter, Angie Sigler; parents, Kenny and Mertie Lee; brothers, Charles Lee and Kenneth Lee; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Rushing; and son-in-law, Arthur Eddleman.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 3, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 4, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home. Interment followed at Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
