John Malcolm “Honey” Bowman, 85, was born Nov. 4, 1937, and passed away Friday, Sept. 1, 2023.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn Pierce Bowman; children, Jennifer Johnston and husband, Buddy, Johnny Bowman and wife, Richelle, Janet Ashworth and husband, Patrick, and Joseph Bowman and wife, Tina; grandchildren, Sonny Johnston and wife, Danisha, Brooke Bury and husband, Chad, Lindsay Layfield and husband, Daniel, Amy Bowman, Jonathan Ashworth and wife, Kaitlon, Zachary Ashworth and wife, Mazie, Alisha Parsons, Brittany Felice, and Josie Holley; great-grandchildren, Maci, Easton, Carter, Gracie, Ryker, Rylee, Makayla, and Josie.
He was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Christina Sims, Tyler Sims, John “Cody” Bowman, and Christopher Ashworth; parents, Ralph and Corrie Belle Saturday; and father, John Silas Bowman.
The family received friends from 2-8 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 3, at Singer Baptist Church. Visitation continued from 12-2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 4, at Singer Baptist Church. Rev. Jimmy Clark and Rev. Donnis Ashworth officiated. Interment followed at Newlin Cemetery in Singer.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
