Rodney Elliott

Memorial services for Rodney Madison “Rod” Elliott, 65, of Crowville were held at 10 a.m. Saturday Sept. 2, at First Baptist Church, Crowville, with Rev. Wade Coker officiating. Visitation began at 9 a.m. until time of service.

Rod was born Nov. 8, 1957, in Mamou to the late Julian Madison Elliott and the late Opal C. Hodge, and passed from this life on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe.

Rod was a member of First Baptist Church, Crowville. He was an operator in the oilfield for 38 years with Pennzoil. He was also an All State tuba player at DeQuincy High School, and McNeese State University.

Rod loved cooking and making sure everyone knew where to buy sausage and boudin, and sharing recipes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and Uncle Jesse Elliott.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Biggs Elliott of Crowville; two daughters, Sara Elliott of Baskin and Joni McDonald and husband Matt of Monroe; one son, John Michael Hunter and wife Haley of West Monroe; six grandchildren, Eva Kate McDonald, Lona Blaire McDonald, Clara Jane McDonald, Jesse McDonald, Olivia Stephens and Travis Stephens; two sisters, Betsy Elliott Snider and husband Mark of New Orleans and Ellen Oswell and husband Kevin of Crowville; two nieces, Lauren Snider of New Orleans and Kacie Walley and husband Brett of Crowville; one brother-in-law, Larry Biggs and wife Connie of Crowville; and a host of other family and friends.
