Jeffrey VanWinkle

Jeffrey Clint VanWinkle, 52, was born Oct. 9, 1970, and peacefully passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023.

He loved riding motorcycles and fishing. He was a hard worker and enjoyed working on the pipeline and heavy equipment operating. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Jeff never met a stranger and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda VanWinkle; children, Hayden VanWinkle, Justin Shrope, Chelsi Clayton and husband, Bo, Baeli Short and husband, Steve, and Laini Jones and husband, Wesley; grandchildren, Kaiden, Kinlee, Blakelynn, Elek, Kenzi, Wyatt, Jewitt, and Lillian, mother, Linda VanWinkle; sister, Dawn Nash and husband, James; nieces, Kaycee, Brittany, and Dallas; nephews, Cody, Brandon, Steven, and Sean; along with many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Steve Lawson VanWinkle; brother, Steve “Stevie” VanWinkle; and his dog, Trucker VanWinkle.

A family gathering will be held from 9-10 a.m. A celebration of life to will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 9, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev. Adrian Littlefield will be officiating. Inurnment will follow at Bilbo Cemetery in Singer.

Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
