This month’s DeQuincy Police Officer to know is Warden DeWayne Tarver.
Warden Tarver has been a member of the DQPD for 20 years. Warden Tarver began his police career as a Texas police officer. In 2005, Officer Tarver joined the DQPD.
In 2019 Officer Tarver was promoted to warden and assumed duties as the Supervisor of our correctional facility. His main duties are supervising the correction officers, maintaining the jail, and making sure that the DOC inmates are taken care of. He also works on patrol, when needed. Officer Tarver is an all-around police officer.
Warden Tarver has five children, with another on the way (little boy), and six grandchildren. Off duty, he enjoys working on his farm, driving his tractor, and harvesting his crops. Chief Roy Williams often states that Warden Tarver does an outstanding job and is definitely a valuable asset to the DQPD.
The DQ jail has passed all state inspections under the leadership of Warden Tarver. When asked what his future plans are, he stated that he wants to retire from the DQPD and continue to work on his farm and spend some time in the Philippines where his wife is from.
Warden Tarver is both a trained Texas and Louisiana Law Enforcement officer having brought his expertise to the DQPD for many years. We thought that you would like to know about one of your DQPD officers, Warden DeWayne Tarver.
