DeQuincy loses season opener to Westlake

DeQuincy traveled down to Westlake to take on the 3A Rams in Thursday night football action. Final score 40-7.

Westlake pretty well took control of the game from the onset, scoring 2 first quarter touchdowns and went on to score 2 more in the second quarter to take a 26 to 0 halftime lead.

Westlake was pretty even on rushing (190 yards) and passing (289 yards).

Westlake defense held the Tigers to 149 yards total offense on the night.

DeQuincy got on the scoreboard in the forth quarter with a 23 yard pass from Carson Rainwater to Quentin Pharris.

Wyatt LeVergne lead the Tigers rushing attack with 61 yards on 18 carries. Nigel Ceaser added 12 yards on 8 carries.

Quentin Pharris had 67 yards receiving on 8 catches he also had 6 yards rushing on 2 carries. Mikah Kerlegan had 2 catches for 11 yards while Koby Poole had 2 for 9 yards.

Carson Rainwater was 13-20 with 89 yards and no interceptions.

Defensively the Tigers were lead by Koby Poole and his 5 tackles and Wyatt LeVergne with 5 also.

Cameron Joyce added 3 while MJ Clark, Kheidren LeDay , Mikah Kerlegan, DeCorious Griffin and Nigel Ceaser all added 2 tackles each.
