Our Loving Mother, Wife, Grandmother and Friend Barbara Gore sadly passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at the age of 61. She was born on Oct. 16, 1961, in Salem, Illinois to Norman and Betty Austin. She was a wonderful person who was always there when we needed her. She had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community. When she loved she loved big. On a giving day you would find her at the local VFW trying to help others. She had a love for her sons, grandkids, motorcycles, being on the water, boat rides and veterans like no other.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Thomas (Bird) Gore; sons, Nick Lowry and his wife Misty, Bret Lowry; grandchildren; Austin, Aaron, Autumn and Adalynn; sisters, Phyllis Stephens and Becky Kerby; and her mother-in-law, Twyla Gore. Barbara also leaves behind numerous extended family and friends, all of whom loved her dearly and will cherish her memory.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Dodson and Glen Dodson; and her sister, Peggy.
A memorial service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 8, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. A celebration of life followed at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, July 8, at the VFW in Starks.
