Vickie Holloway Mitchell was born Nov. 27, 1958 in Center, Texas and passed away Thursday, July 6, 2023 at the age of 64.
She was a resident of Starks, all of her adult life. As a child her father served in the United States Military which allowed Vickie to travel the world. She is best known by her nickname “Pooh” given by her youngest grandson. Vickie enjoyed shopping and adored her family. Most of all she loved her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Genna Doyle-Gibson and husband, Dennis, and Danielle Mitchell; grandchildren, Chloe Gibson, Mason Mitchell, Cheyenne Crow, Jason Gibson, Ashlynn Doxey; sisters, Mickie Nixon and Janice Wallace; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Louis and Anna Jane Holloway; sister, Nelda “Jeanie” Miller; brothers, David “Porky” Knapp, James “Bo” Holloway, and Carl “Joe” Holloway.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday, July 10, with the funeral service beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, at First Baptist Church, 128 Hwy 109 S, Starks. Pastor Ron Butler officiated. Interment followed at Miller Annex Cemetery in Starks.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
