Kathy Rentz Rodrigue, 71, got her wings and went to walk with the angels on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.
She was born on Oct. 10, 1951, in Walterboro, South Carolina to the late NT McPherson and Frances Bennett Caldwell. Kathy was a compassionate spirit whose passion was caring for others. She spent 30+ years working as a nurse in all settings and spent the final years working as a hospice nurse. She loved spending hours at the ballfield watching Jason play sports when he was younger and watching her grandchildren dance. Kathy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her great grand. Kathy was known as “Nana” to not only her biological grandchildren, but to many in the community.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, James Rodrigue of Vinton; daughters, Lisa Gilbert (Doug) of Vinton, and Ashley Bell (Colton) of Sulphur; sons, Joey Rentz (Sylvia) of Vinton, and Jason Rentz (Autumn) of Westlake; grandchildren, Brooke and Brittany Gilbert of Vinton, and Addison, Avery, and Aiden Bell of Sulphur; great-grandchildren, Brynlee Gilbert of Vinton and one on the way that she was so excited about; brothers, Randy Caldwell (Tammie), Ricky Caldwell (Lori Ann), and Tommy McPherson; sisters, Debbie Stone, Beth Cumbie, and Kay McPherson all of South Carolina; her bonus grandchildren that she loved, Chance, Carly, Kori, and Zeth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, NT McPherson and Frances Caldwell; grandparents, Francis Marion and Carolyn Lorene Bennett.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Heart of Hospice for the excellent care that was provided.
Celebration of life was held 10 a.m., Monday, June 19, at Crossroads Baptist Church in Vinton.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
