Toddler Junction Early Learning Center has been named Business of the Year by the DeQuincy Chamber of Commerce. The business will be honored at the annual Chamber Banquet on Thursday, Mar. 9, at 7 p.m. at the T. D. Cardwell Center.
Toddler Junction is owned and operated by Erika Buxton. She and her husband, Trent, have been married for 17 years and have two daughters, Brinlee and Bethanee Buxton.
Toddler Junction opened its doors for business Aug. 17, 2009 and is currently in its 14th year of operation. The center has been blessed with the opportunity to love and spoil hundreds of children over the years. In 2020, Toddler Junction suffered several blows, a 4-month COVID mandated closure, then allowed to reopen with strict guidelines and that opening lasted for only two very short months when Hurricane Laura devastated the building.
Things didn’t look good for Toddler Junction after that. But Buxton was determined. She put her head down, hired amazing contractors, said many, many prayers, and had the love and support of her family, friends and the entire town of DeQuincy rooting for her. And in just four short months, Toddler Junction was completely rebuilt and reopening its doors for business.
There have been a few set backs throughout all the years, but Toddler Junction has always been God’s path for Buxton. He’s made that very clear throughout all the hardships she’s been dealt because He always sees her through.
Toddler Junction regularly donates to both DeQuincy High School and DeQuincy Middle School athletics and clubs because Buxton enjoys supporting All her babies as they grow throughout their life after their time at Toddler Junction.
Toddler Junction is located at 810 Page St. and accepts children ages 6 weeks up to five years old. They are open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. You can reach Toddler Junction at 337-786-2214 if you are interested in enrollment.
