Krewe of Illusions 2023 Extravaganza “Dia De Los Muertos, Hollywood Day of the Dead” was held Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Exhibition Center of the Lake Charles Civic Center.
KOI Queen is Jayne Yellott of DeQuincy. Other krewe members from DeQuincy are Alana Royer, Krewe president; Richelle Royer Spears, Ball Captain; Annette Hayes and Khloe Spears, Jr. Krewe member.
Krewe of Illusions is the only theatrical krewe in Lake Charles. The show featured stars and entertainers that are no longer with us such as: Marilyn Monroe/Jayne Yellott; Lucille Ball/Richelle Spears; Janis Joplin/Annette Hayes; and Judy Garland as Dorothy/Khloe Spears. Many other krewe members portrayed long ago stars such as Betty White, Phyllis Diller, Jean Harlow and the list goes on.
Many of the costumes include very unique and ornate back pieces which are often a feat just to wear. Much thought, time and preparation goes into each character.

The DeQuincy News crew, Crystal Nix, Lauren Cooper, and Dawn and Bobby Spears were honored guests of the Krewe for the evening.
