Mark Vanover

Mark Wayne Vanover, of Portland, Oregon, 72, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023. Mark was born Dec. 20, 1950, in DeQuincy to William Carl Vanover and Jimmie Ruth Varnado Vanover.

Growing up in DeQuincy, Mark loved the outdoors. He enjoyed attending church youth camp and especially liked playing catcher for fastpitch softball. He graduated from Oak Hill High School in Elmer. Later in life, Mark enjoyed building computers and he loved to watch LSU football and baseball.

Mark leaves behind his brother, Rev. Jimmy Carl Vanover (Jody), of Lake Charles; his wife, Huong Phan; daughter, Nhung Pham Lee (Andy); grandchildren, Emily, Jordan, and Steven; daughter, Chau Pham Phongluangtham (Brian); grandchildren, Aydin, Lukas, and Vincent; son, Thanh Pham (Vivian), all of Portland, Oregon.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, William Carl Vanover and Jimmie Ruth Varnado Vanover.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m. at First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy, 230 Smith St. The family would like to express our sincere appreciation for prayers and support during this time.
