Robert J. “R. J.” Leger, 73, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023 in a local hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of the Lake Arthur area. He was a retired rig supervisor. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and was awarded Knight of the Year in 2019.
He is survived by his wife, Linda L. Leger; sons, Brian Keith Leger (Jessica) of Lake Arthur, Robert Troy Leger (Rhonda) of Hathaway, Everett Scott Leger (Teresa) of Mobile, Ala., and Toby James Leger (Paige) of DeQuincy; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother Melvin Lee Leger (Brenda) of Milton, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrus and Alzire Leger; and one brother.
His celebration service was held Saturday, Jan. 7, at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Lake Arthur. Burial followed in Andrus Cove Cemetery in Jennings.
