Fall Festival fun for everyone

By Jeffra DeViney

Thousands of attendees enjoyed a safe Halloween Event during DeQuincy Fall Festival/National Night Out held Monday, Oct. 31, at the DeQuincy Walking Path.

This is the third annual event sponsored by the DeQuincy Police Department, City of DeQuincy, Rotary Club of DeQuincy, and Visit Lake Charles Tourist Bureau. It was a delight to see all the different Halloween costumes and the smiles on children’s faces as they walked with their families around the Walking Path to receive free treats and interacted with first responders at DeQuincy Memorial Hospital parking lot.

The following participants gave out treats this year at Fall Fest:

DeQuincy Police Dept., City of DeQuincy, Rotary Club of DeQuincy, Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, DeQuincy Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts of America, Ward 6 Fire Dept., DeQuincy Fire Dept., First Baptist Church, DeQuincy Memorial Hospital,

Eddy Dahlquist, Laurie Mueller, Bible Baptist Church, DeQuincy Community ACTS Foundation, Cameron Smith, Margaret Skinner-Brown, Daiquiris & Deaux, Hargrove Bible Baptist Church, First Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy, DeQuincy Federated Service League,

PRD&G Alumni Association, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff ’s Office, CrossPoint Community Church, Collar & Comb Pet Grooming, B-1 Bank, Budget Fencing & Remodeling and Denise Maddox.

DeQuincy First Responders had their vehicles there for a “Touch-A-Truck” Event and National Night Out!
Children and their parents were able to meet and greet with our local men and women who put their lives on the line daily for us to live in a safe community.

The sponsors wish to thank DeQuincy Memorial Hospital along with all the participants with their support personnel. It takes a village to bring joy to children and keep them safe. The efforts of so many are appreciated in making this event such a success.
