Robert Preston Dougharty, 77, of DeQuincy died Friday, Oct. 28, at his home.
Upon graduation from Ragley High School in 1963, he moved to California and joined the Navy from 1964 to 1968. After the military, he worked for Sun Oil.
He worked many carpentry jobs but retired from the Calcasieu Parish School Board maintenance department after 15 years of service. He was a member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church and many other ministries.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Dougharty; children, Twila Hagen (Scott) of DeQuincy, Robby Dougharty (Marlena) of DeRidder, and Daniel Dougharty (Katy) of Austin, Texas; sister, Drusilla Wilkins (Danny) of DeQuincy; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ola Dougharty; and six siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in DeQuincy on Monday, Oct. 31, with Father Luis Tigga officiating. Inurnment followed at Highland Memory Gardens in Lake Charles under the direction of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home.
