Starks High announces Teacher of Year

Staci Rainwater has been named Starks High Teacher of the Year.

Rainwater received her Associates degree in Teaching from Lamar State College – Orange in 2008. She graduated from Grand Canyon University with a degree in Elementary Education in 2012 and began teaching at Oberlin Elementary School in May 2013 where she taught 1st grade (2 years) and Pre-K (1 year). In 2016, she became a teacher at Vinton Elementary where she taught Kindergarten and 1st Grade. In 2019, she finally found her “place” at Starks High School. She is currently in her 4th year at Starks High School (where she hopes to stay) where she has taught 2nd grade the last three years and this year, she is teaching 1st grade.

Rainwater said, “I have been a teacher for 10 years and I absolutely love teaching! I have taught Pre-K through 2nd grade. There is not a more rewarding job than watching and helping children grow and become successful. Becoming Teacher of the Year has always been a goal of mine since I started teaching and I am very grateful to have been given this title.”

She is a 1999 graduated of DeQuincy High School. She is married to Jake Rainwater and they have three children, Chayne Sebald, Joseph and Konnor Rainwater. The Rainwaters live in DeQuincy.
