The DeQuincy Tigers got their first win of the season by defeating Vinton 14-0 in District action this past Friday night.
In one of the oldest rivalries in Calcasieu Parish, DeQuincy scored 2 first quarter touchdowns and then turned it over to the defense to close out the game. The defense played 4 quarters of shutout football limiting Vinton to barely 100 yards total offense.
DeQuincy was led offensively by Wyatt Lavergne who had 121 yards rushing in the game. Shiloh Cotlong had a tough 47 yards rushing while Eathan Guidry added 10 yards rushing.
Quarterback Reese Ashworth had 39 yards passing. He also scored DeQuincy second touchdown on a 1-yard quarterback sneak late in the first quarter.
Wyatt Lavergne scored the first touchdown of the night on a long 44 yard run.
Kohen Cormier added both PAT’s to put the Tigers up 14-0. That proved to be all the Tigers would need on this night as the defense stood tall.
Koby Pool and DaCorius Griffin both had 2 catches for 15 yards while Diron Valentine had one catch for 10 yards.
Next up for the Tigers is a road contest against Welsh in Welsh Friday night at 7. p.m. Come out and give the Tigers a good crowd to cheer them onto Victory.
