Harry Methvin

Harry Truman Methvin was born on Oct. 10, 1945, and passed away on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, at the age of 76. He was a poor boy, who lived a rich life.

Oct. 10, 1945, Harry Truman Methvin joined the family of Horace Thomas (Buster) Methvin and Ella Lutisha (Aunt Tish) McConathy Methvin, as one of ten. He was smart, but maybe his highest wisdom was to play the long game. Harry didn’t chase greener grass or setting suns, but grew from seed to crop in the place where he was born. He lived a God-first life, from that, everything followed.

He was ole fashioned earnest about things that are never out of fashion, like work, integrity, value of your word. Like his mother, Ma Tish, Harry never met a stranger. He accumulated good will like trees grow rings. He was highly principled with people, assuming they were good, and hoping always, to be right.

Harry wore many hats: son, brother, teacher, historian, gardener. While he was at it, he was friend, mentor, example, Christian and uncle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Buster and Tish; his siblings, Horace Lyn Methvin, Connie Sue Methvin and Donna Lou Methvin, Barbara Young, Dorothy Meeks, Gerald Methvin, Bonnie Perkins, and Harvey Methvin.

He is survived by his sister, Billie Joyce Clayton (who forgives him for sneaking off to heaven before her); also survived by several nephews and All his favorite nieces.

Also out there are all his beloved students… each with a Mr. Methvin story…
