Clair Wilbur “Gus” Groff, 93, of Lake Charles died on Friday, Sept. 9, 2022 at his residence.
He was born in Manheim, Pa. He served his country in the U. S. Army from 1951 to 1953. He attended McNeese College and graduated in 1959 with a degree in Horticulture. He lived and worked in Florida for twenty years, before moving back to Lake Charles in 1980. He was a member of the Swinging Rebels Square Dance Club. He was a member of Sale Street Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Prater Groff, DeQuincy native; and one sister.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clair Groff and Bertha Groff Miller; three brothers; and one sister.
His funeral service was held Monday, Sept. 12, at Johnson Funeral Home. Henry Iatesta officiated. A private burial was held at Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy.
