Samuel Clifton

Samuel Wayne “Sam” Clifton, 72, of Westlake passed away on Friday, Aug. 19, 2022 at his residence.

He was born to Samuel “Dutchie” and Billie Faye Clifton on Sept. 30, 1949 in DeQuincy. He was an outdoor advocate, loved aviation, scuba diving, fishing, hunting, woodworking, construction, and boating. In his early years, he was an avid reader, especially anything by Stephen King. Sam was truly a jack of all trades and could do practically anything. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 40 years, Janice Clifton; mother, Billie Faye Clifton of DeQuincy; son, Jonathan Clifton (Nicole) of DeQuincy; two daughters, March Clifton of Westlake and Natalie Derouen (Aric) of Moss Bluff; brother, Danny Clifton (Debbie) of DeQuincy; sister, Carol Ann Shelton (Jeff) of DeQuincy; two grandchildren, Judson Derouen and Aayden Derouen; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Sam was preceded in death by his father, Samuel “Dutchie” Clifton.

A Celebration of Sam’s life was held at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m., with Dignity Celebrant Jody Barrilleaux officiating. Visitation was at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Services entrusted to Jordan and Amanda Mothershed of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home, 205 E. Harrison St., DeQuincy.
