Thomas LeRoy Nix, 85, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Mar. 13, 1937 in Seymour, Texas to Clifton L. Nix and Bertha Jewel Ross.
Thomas was released from the Army Mar. 31, 1965, then ended his life long career as Master Carpenter specializing in building free standing circular staircases. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, and canning in his outside kitchen.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dea Ann; and daughter, Jill Poole Whatley and husband, Chester A. Whatley, Jr.; granddaughter, Olivia D’Anne Whatley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James A. Nix and Effie Geische of Hico, Texas and maternal grandparents, George H. Ross and Minnie Ellen Lee of Seymour, Texas.
There will be a private graveside service at Perkins Cemetery with family.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
