City Council meets July 11

DeQuincy City Council meeting was called to order by Denise Maddox, Council President, on Monday, July 11, at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers. Mayor Riley Smith and several others were not present due to an on going search and rescue.

The following were approved by council: June 7, 2022, special meeting minutes; June 13, 2022, regular meeting minutes; July 11, 2022, agenda.

City Reports

Kim Rainwater, spoke for the Mayor on City Reports. The DeQuincy Chamber of Commerce held a Celebrate America event Tuesday, July 12, at 4 p.m. at DeQuincy Veteran’s Park.

Also the Chamber and the Southwest Louisiana Economic Developmental Alliance are presenting a business training seminar on Thursday, July 14, at the Heritage Place Hotel and Suites, located at 1028 E. 4th St, from 6-7:30 p.m.

The windows at the Railroad Museum have been ordered and are expected to be delivered in approximately 12-18 weeks. They are still waiting on FEMA for roof repairs. The Walking Path is in the final stage of completion.

A resolution was adopted regarding the 2022 millage rates, no change in millage rate which is 6.020.
