Deborah Ashworth

Deborah “Debbie” Ashworth, 69, was born in San Antonio, Texas on Sept. 22, 1952 and passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2022.

Debbie worked at Starks High School as a bus driver for 20 years before retiring. She was an amazing wife, mother, Nonna and friend. Her family was everything to her, and she did anything and everything when it came to her family. She loved and was loved beyond words. Her passing leaves much emptiness in those left behind, but her life and love gave so many beautiful memories. She will be forever loved by her family and greatly missed.

Debbie was married on Sept. 27, 1975 to Danny L. Ashworth, Sr. of Starks. After marrying, they built their home in Starks. where they raised their family for 47 years.

She is survived by her husband, Danny Lee Ashworth, Sr.; daughters, Michelle Ashworth and husband, Daniel Cron, Sheree Ashworth and son, Danny Lee Ashworth, Jr. and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Luke Ashworth and girlfriend, Katie Thibodeaux, Micah Kaat, Callie Ashworth, Josie Blankenship and James D. Maddox; great-grandson, Isiah Ashworth. She is also survived by her brother, Kenny Attaway and wife, Bonnie; and sister, Brenda Chesson and husband, Steven.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Maynard of Orange, Texas; and father, Doyle Attaway also of Orange, Texas.

The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 20, with the funeral service being held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21. The visitation and funeral were held at First Baptist Church, 128 Hwy 109 S, Starks. Pastor Ron Butler officiated and interment followed at Gillis Cemetery in Starks.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
