James Parker was born on Sept. 24, 1956, and passed away on Monday, Apr. 11, 2022. For many years he was a faithful member of Hargrove Pentecostal Church where he served on the board, was a Sunday School director, and a new converts teacher. After his retirement, he and Brenda moved to the lake and they began attending Rosevine United Pentecostal Church and became the Sunday School director. He loved to spend his time fishing and hunting. His wife, children, and grandchildren meant the world to him. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Brenda Parker; children, Kevin Parker and wife, Kristy, Jeffery Parker and wife, Heather; grandchildren, Amber Parker Wiggins and husband, Jacob, Taylor Parker, and Bradley Parker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Irma Parker; and sister, Sarah Lynn Parker.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Apr. 13, at Hargrove Pentecostal Church. Funeral service will be held at Hargrove Pentecostal Church at 11 a.m., Thursday, Apr. 14. Interment will follow at Oretta Cemetery. Pastor Gordon Simmons and Pastor Anthony Kennon will officiate.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
