Denise Patton

Denise Irene Wilsie Patton was born Aug. 12, 1943, and passed away Saturday, Apr. 9, 2022, at the age of 78.

Denise inherited her mischievousness from her daddy. She enjoyed the adventure; she loved to bake, go camping, hunting, fishing, ride motorcycles, and ATVs, and driving a stock car in a race. She was also an excellent seamstress. Additionally, Denise loved to sing and play the stand-up bass. She was a third-generation Boeing employee and school bus driver, owned her own business, and taught school. She enjoyed giving to others and making people happy.

She is survived by her husband, William Patton; children, Jane Young, Cindy Hopper, Donald Wilsie, Jr. and wife, Bobbie, Brad Patton, Josh Friedman, Brian Patton and wife, Robbie; grandchildren, Jared Young, Jaren Young and wife, Annie, Royce Wilsie and wife, Shayla, Hollie Wilsie, Heidi Wilsie, Brittany Barthik, and Blane Kelshaw; great-grandson, Graham Barthik; along with her extended family, Rev. Stephen and wife, Susan, Rev. Ken and wife, Julie, and their son Micaiah Cook.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Donald E. Wilsie, Sr.; her parents, Lawrence and Bertha Bruskevith; and her eight siblings.

The family received friends from 5:30 p.m. until the funeral service at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Apr. 12, at Caney Creek Apostolic Tabernacle Church. Rev. Dennis Clark, Rev. Kelly Havard, and Rev. Daniel Pitts officiated. The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Apr. 13, at Fairview Cemetery in Lufkin, Texas.

Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W Fourth St., DeQuincy.
