Freda Clark

Freda Rose Clark was born June 9, 1941 in DeQuincy and passed from this life to eternal peace on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022 in her residence in DeQuincy.

Romans 13:7 says to give honor, respect and reverence to whom these things are due so as the Matriarch we give this honor to Momma, Mother, Maw, Mawmaw. Freda lived for God and her family. Always giving, nurturing, caring and supportive. She adored her family, looking forward to the next family get together or Sunday dinner (no one could cook like Mawmaw) . She was married to Gerald for 55 years and they had a life filled with love, laughter some sorrows but mostly great times playing card games, dominoes, camping, fishing, going to church, gospel singings and sharing fellowship with family and friends. Freda was a homemaker most of her life but did enjoy the years she worked at a local Jewelers helping brides pick out their china and stemware for their bridal registry. She loved beautiful jewelry and china.

Freda is survived by her three children, Randy Clark and wife Jackie, Diana Daigle and husband Richard, all of DeQuincy, and Ricky Clark of Lake Arthur; her grandchildren, Colton Clark, Clayton (Sarah) Daigle, Brittni (Rev.Jered) Thomas, Hannah Daigle (Jeremy); great-grandchildren, Kallyn Ardoin, Brailey, Laikyn and Jaxson Thomas, Kaitlyn Daigle and Israel Lopez; her sister, Jackie Chappell; brother, Tommy Berry (Juanita ); sisters-in-law, Betty Clark, Margaret (T. D.) Deal, Faye (W. D.) Goodeaux, and Sharon Clark; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Clark; grandson, Brandon Clark; father, Hassel Berry; mother, Hessie Mae Bevil; brother Master Sergeant Bobby Berry; and many others that she held dear to her heart.

Her family’s prayers are that she will be rejoicing around the throne of God with all those that went before her. She will be missed tremendously by those that love her until that great reunion day with those that have eternal hope in our Lord Jesus Christ and we will be reunited once again. Freda was a member of Houston River Baptist Church

The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, and the funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11. The visitation and funeral were held at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev. Lonnie Gothrup officiated. Interment followed at Masonic Cemetery in DeQuincy.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
