Jeanie Rae Langley Keel was born Nov. 6, 1950 and passed away on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022 at the age of 71.
Jeanie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family very much and enjoyed having all the family over for Sunday dinners. She loved playing games like Yahzee, Skipbo and Dominoes. She was the best Nanny to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Howard “Pete” Keel; three children, Scotty Keel and wife, Ramona of Cleveland, Texas, Crystal Keel and husband, Tim Fontenot of DeQuincy and Joey Keel and wife, Krystal of DeQuincy; eight grandchildren, Amber Fontenot and husband, Timmy, Nick Keel, Wrangler Luke, Noah Keel, Spur Luke and wife, Brooke, Jake Keel, Caden Keel and Sydni Keel; three great-grandchildren, Kinli, River and Reinen. She is also survived by her sister, Roxie Koonce and husband, Dean of DeQuincy; brother, Walter “Dubby” Langley and wife, Sherry of Port Barre; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Helen Langley; and sister, Peggy Langley Bauer.
The family received friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, and the funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14. The visitation and funeral service were held at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy. Interment followed at Masonic Cemetery.
