Captain James L. Cresswell was born Apr. 10, 1966 and passed away Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021 at the age of 55.
Captain Cresswell was a Merchant Marine and had a master’s pilot license. He loved collecting coins and old money. He enjoyed sweets and much to his wife’s dismay, he would always pick up candy after leaving a ship to give to his children; candy for the children and flowers for his wife from “The Candyman”.
He is survived by his wife, Lydia Cresswell; children, Britney Cresswell, Michael Bellard and wife, Laura, Sabrina Lagory, April Bellard, Hope LaFleur and husband, Derick and Jamie Cresswell; 11 grandchildren, Hayden Mitchell, Jude Mitchell, Norah Broughton, Hunter, Logan and Ashlie Bellard, Lillian and Marybeth Bellard, Elliott LaFleur, Zack and Leah Lagory; and his faithful dogs and companions, Winston and Saylor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Cresswell and Sandra Baglio Cresswell.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 29, with a Memorial Service to begin at 2 p.m. at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
