Aaron Berzas

Aaron Reed “Fat” Berzas made his entrance into this world eight minutes before his twin brother, Allan on Dec. 29, 1978. On Friday, Nov. 19, 2021 he gained his wings when God called him home.

He is survived by his wife, Shontay; his loving mother, Sue Berzas; his brothers, Allan and Antoine Berzas, Larry, Tyrone and Efferson Bushnell; two sisters, Lisa and Sydney; three beautiful daughters, Xilyn Jade, Kira Michelle and Erin Mahreigh; one darling granddaughter, Blaire; three stepchildren, Hailey, Jonathan and Justin Fontenot; two nieces, Ty’chiana and Jhreem, three nephews, Traejon, Romeo and DaQwon and his best friend of several years, Marie Mayes along with countless family and friends.

Fat was of the Pentecostal faith. He worked as a cook for several businesses, a mechanic and for the Asbury Plant. He put his family first and foremost. He was a tough, big ole teddy bear with a tender heart, especially for children. Aaron, Fat, as he is known to so many loved life, was fun loving and jovial, the life of the party and loved his music.

He deeply loved and adored his daughters, cherished his moma and put her on a pedestal, had unbreakable bonds with his brothers “Big A” and “Loc”, “Head”, “Poncho” and “Baby”. Fat was a fantastic cook, king of the grill, a great mechanic and even better friend. Aaron Reed Berzas “Fat” was loved by so many and will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his sweet nephew, Kel; his father, Antoine Bushnell; sisters, Rolanda Bushnell; and Colisha Wilson; maternal grandmother, Zelma Perkins; paternal grandparents, Colina and Antoine Bushnell, Sr.; and his aunt Sissie and Uncle Dinky Dickerson and his aunts Janette Bushnell, Norma Bushnell, and Rose Bushnell, Uncle Dennis Bushnell, and cousin Mary Bushnell.

Psalms 73:26 “My flesh and my heart may fail but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever”.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2021 and the funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27. The visitation and funeral service will be held at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 West Fourth Street, DeQuincy,. Interment to follow at Good Hope Cemetery in Singer.
