Tigers come up big in Jamboree

By Mike Suchanek

The DeQuincy Tigers made the short trip to Sulphur last Friday to play 4A LaGrange in the SPOT Therapy/Billy Navarre Jamboree. The Tigers came out victorious beating LaGrange 14-0.

All of the Tigers scoring came in the first half. Hudson Snyder broke free on the second play from scrimmage with a 66-yard touchdown that brought the fans to their feet.

The Tigers second score came on a 5-yard pass from Reese Ashworth to Gavin Gary to increase the Tigers lead to 14-0.

That was all the Tigers would need on the night as the Tiger defense held LaGrange scoreless.

The Tigers grounded out 168 yards and completed both pass attempts.

Taijé Ceaser picked up 36 yards. He also had a interception in the second half to kill a LaGrange drive.

In addition to his Touchdown catch Gary also had a 44-yard reception in the game.

Freshman TJ Woods was also pointed out by head coach Matt Dufresne as coming in and having a good ball game.

Next up for the Tigers as the regular season gets kicked off will be a road contest against a 3A school, Westlake. The contest will be held in Westlake at Ram Stadium with a 7 p.m. kickoff on Thursday night, Sept. 2.

Go Tigers!
