Sherman R. Bernard, 67. and Rebecca “Becky” Bernard, 64, both died within hours of each other on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021 in a local hospital.
Sherman was born in Lafayette and lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He worked for numerous years as a security guard at Billy Navarre. He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church.
Becky was born in Lake Charles where she was a lifelong resident and a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church also.
They are survived by their sons, Sherman A. Bernard and wife Malinda of Jeanerette, Anthony R. Bernard of Starks, Aaron C. Bernard and Anthony C. Bernard, both of Sulphur; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold Bernard of Abbeville and Jeff Bernard of Ragley; and sisters, Mary Courville of DeQuincy and Tina Gary of Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emelien Bernard and Joyce Taylor;and two sisters.
She is survived by two brothers, Melvin Williams and David Williams, both of Lake Charles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Betty Williams.
Their funeral was held Saturday, Aug. 28, at University Baptist Church, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Samuel Orsot officiated. Burial followed in Consolata Cemetery.
