Darrell Gene Spears, a resident of DeQuincy was born Sept. 19, 1953 and passed away Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021 at the age of 67.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Buxton Spears; children, Justin Spears and wife, Dee, Dustin Spears, Ryan Spears and wife, Keya, and Taylor Spears; grandchildren, Tatum, Tanner, Knox, Mila, Layton and Sophia. He is also survived by his brothers, Joseph Wayne Spears and wife, Debbie, Leon Spears, and Bobby Spears and wife, Dawn; and sisters, Jackie Rose Smith and husband, Gordon and JoAnn Cooley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Spears and Margaret Holley; brother, Terry Perkins; and sister, Evelyn “Sissy” Franklin.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in DeQuincy. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Adrian Littlefield and Bro. Harry Methvin will officiate. Interment will follow at Good Hope Cemetery in Singer.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
