Betty Jo Glidewell Neely, a resident of DeQuincy was born Aug. 13, 1933 in Gilliland, Texas and passed away Sunday, Aug. 1, 2021 in DeQuincy at the age of 87. She was a faithful member of The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Broadhead and husband, Stan of Mont Belvieu, Texas and Joy Bertrand and husband, Randy of DeQuincy; two granddaughters, Amber Gonzales and Amanda Alvarado and husband, Andrew; five great-grandchildren, Neely Reiszner, Elijah Reiszner, Jacob Gonzales, Ryland Norris and Amelia Alvarado. She is also survived by her sisters, Ava Corbin and husband, Harold of North Augusta, South Carolina and Linda Williamson and husband, Marvin of Victoria, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oran Neely, Jr; sons, Steven Alvis Neely and Kent Alan Neely; parents, A. G. Glidewell and Nellie Tucker Glidewell.
The family received friends 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Tuesday Aug. 3, with the funeral service to begin at 12 p.m. The visitation and funeral service were held at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev. Wayne Neyland and Rev. Jerry Procell officiated. Interment followed at Fountain Cemetery in Starks.
The family would like to thank Randy Bertrand for the excellent care he has provided over the years and to Dr. Jalal Joudah and DeQuincy Memorial Hospital for their excellent care of their mother.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
