The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Celebration will be held Monday, Jan. 20, at the Bethel AME Church.
Everyone is invited to join in the parade and assembly – trucks, floats, cars, etc. The parade starts at 10 a.m. at City Hall, goes around by the nursing home, then on to the church for the assembly.
Choirs, soloists, praise dancers and speakers are welcomed.
The assembly begins as soon as parade arrives at the church.
The speaker will be Elder Jonathan Williams, Pastor of St. Peter Missionary B.C. of Beaumont, Texas.
The Parade Marshal is Daisy A. Cole, City Council representative.
A Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from DeQuincy High each year. Martha Pullard, Jimmie Calhoun and Elaine Jackson are committee members.
The church is located at 511 S. Grand Avenue. Rev. Allen J. Williams, Jr. is the pastor.
