The regular monthly council meeting was held, Monday, Aug. 12, in Council Chambers at City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Denise Maddox, Chair-president. Invocation and pledge was led by Mayor Riley Smith and Mark Peloquin.
Reports Given
The finance report was given by Valecia Royer and approved by the council. Denise Maddox reported on the Fire Department, due to Johnny Copeland being absent. There were eight call outs. Mayor Smith commented that the Fire Department had their inspection and they are waiting to get their ratings back. A high rating can possibly reduce insurance cost.
Chief Casey Whitehead reported 171 violations issued, 49 arrests, 315 complaints, 107 warnings, and 78 warrants were served. $37,431 in Fines and Bonds were collected.
Calls for service by District were as follows: District #1 – 68, District #2 – 42, District #3 – 65, District #4 – 82, and CPSO – 50.
The following surplus vehicles that were up for bid were sold to highest bidder: 2005 Ford Expedition, 2007 GMC Yukon, 2013 Ford Explorer, and Case 900 2-wheel drive tractor. Bids were approved by the council.
National Night Out Successful
Mayor Smith thanked Chief Whitehead for a job well done on National Night Out. Lots of positive feed back on the event and people asked if this could happen more often. A great turn out was enjoyed by all.
Mayor Smith thanked City Clerk Pat Brummett and City Planner Mary Jo Bayles for the great jobs they were doing.
Eddy Dalhquist reported on the Work Order System. He said it is working great. The work is being done in an orderly manner in each district.
Council members are pleased with things getting done.
