Shirley Streams

Shirley (Myers) Streams, 46, passed away in a local hospital on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019.

She was born in Welsh on Dec. 5, 1972 to the late Fred, Sr. and Freda (Courville) Myers. She was a graduate of Bell City High School in Bell City.

Shirley was a long-time resident of DeQuincy, where she worked as a cafeteria lady at the Middle School. Shirley loved singing, telling stories, watching Dallas Cowboy football games, and calling her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Ernest Myers, Anna Nunez (Dwayne), Robin Richard (Reggie), Cliff Myers (Monica), Dieago Myers, and Sarrita Fontenot (Chris); mother-in-law, June Streams; brother-in-law, Craig Streams (Priscilla); an abundance of adoring nieces and nephews; and her beloved pet, Cowboy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Justin Streams; her brother, Fred Myers, Jr.; her parents; and her grandmother, Idell Courville.

Shirley was a very loving and outgoing person; full of smiles and cheerful conversation. She loved her family dearly; and she was loved by all in return. She will be truly missed.

A Celebration of Shirley’s life was held at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home of DeQuincy on Friday, Aug. 16, at 2 p.m., with Father Eddie Richard and Bro. Harry Methvin officiating. Visitation was on Friday at the funeral home, beginning at 10 a.m. until the Rosary at 1:30 p.m., followed by the service. Burial followed at Perkins Cemetery.

Services were entrusted to Hixson-Snider Funeral, 205 E. Harrison St., DeQuincy.
