Hazel Valero

Hazel Gennida (Johnson) Valero, 82, originally of DeQuincy, passed away on Friday, Feb. 4, 2022 at her residence in Houston, Texas. She was born on Jan. 6, 1940 in DeQuincy. She loved to travel, playing Canasta, reading, and lived literally around the world. Hazel was a homemaker and took great pride in that. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, whom she loved very much.

She is survived by her daughters, Chantal Froehlich Amos (Daniel) of Houston, Texas, and Susan Valero Ramsey (Colin) of Houston, Texas; brother, William “Sonny” Johnson (Patricia); sister-in-law, Mae Johnson; along with seven grandchildren, Jesse and Ben Froehlich, Cole, Xavier, and Faith Valero, and Patrick and Anabelle Ramsey.

Hazel was preceded in death by her loving husband, Francisco “Frank” Valero; parents, William and Inez Johnson; son, Patrick David Valero; two brothers, Ernest and Edward Johnson; and three sisters, Mildred Johnson, Myrtle Coleman, and Rita Istre.

Services will be held at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m., with Bro. Jim Fisher officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday at the funeral home beginning at 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery.
