The beginning of DeQuincy High School baseball was in 1976. In that first year, the Tigers earned a spot in the state semifinal game. They played River Oak Academy in Alexandria where the state tournament was held. Jack Holley was the head coach and Billy Kellogg was the assistant coach. They traveled riding in cars to each game. Teams the closest to us at that time were Mamou, Ville Platte, Buckeye, Wettermark, and Notre Dame.
