Sandra LeDay Ben was born Nov. 17, 1963, to Gilbert and Mary LeDay.
Sandra attended school in Ville Platte and DeQuincy. She was a bighearted person. She loved cooking and feeding any and everyone that crossed her path. She worked many years as a cook at Silver Dollar and The Care Center of DeQuincy until she retired. Her greatest joy was family; her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. It warmed her heart to see them get together and cook for them.
She departed this life Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026, in DeQuincy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Mary LeDay; three sisters, Essie Mae Bias, Eulla Collivan, and Priscilla LeDay; two brothers, Milton and Donald LeDay; one grandchild, Cassandra LeDay; and one great grandchild, Zyreon LeDay.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Christopher Ben; four children, Edward (Etanya) LeDay, Evelyn LeDay, Willona LeDay, and Rebecca LeDay; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dalbert (Joyce) LeDay, Hershell LeDay, LeArie (Ethel) LeDay, Russell LeDay, and Phillip (Lisa) LeDay; one sister, Valerie (Gary) Larvdain; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Her visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 5, from 9 a.m. with her funeral following at 11 a.m., at Evergreen Baptist Church located at 300 Evergreen Lane in DeQuincy. Pastor James Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Community Cemetery in DeQuincy, under the direction of James Funeral Home.
