Jason Wendell Parker was born on Aug. 9, 1960, to James Calvin and Revanel Rachel Rainwater Parker, and went to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026.
Jason was preceded in death by his parents, James Calvin and Revanel Rachel Parker, sister, Mary Calva Jean Parker; and brother, James Kenneth Parker.
Jason was survived by his wife of 43 years, Laurie Elizabeth Taylor Parker, daughter, Micca Rachele Parker (John Ellison); granddaughter, Jaila Rachele Parker (Seth Shirley); grandsons, Hunter Trace Parker and Taylor Bryant Remedies; great-grandson, Greyson Lee Shirley and another blessing on the way; brothers, John “Porky” Alvin Parker, Sr. and Justin Randall Parker; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Sept. 5, from 12 p.m., until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m., at Brushy Creek Baptist Church, 125 Brushy Creek Cemetery Road in Merryville. Pastor Mike Streams will be officiating. Interment will follow at Hyatt Cemetery in Fields.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
